The Surprise of the Century

I consider it beneath me to share the results of my quizzes, but this one gets the "no duh" prize.

LOL … yoss! Well no surprise, that! Have ya heard that most of us guy-on-guy action fellas are above average in that department anywho? Methinks it's in manloving psychologist C.A. Tripp's "The Homosexual Matrix" somewhere, well worth the read ~ (•:-)}

Weird you should mention Tripp!

While writing my Masters thesis, which covered a lot of ground that he already moved over (the social forces that shape fetishism and sexual desire in individuals) I tried to get in touch with him, only to discover he died in 2003!

I've always agreed with his conclusions, namely that human sexuality is fundamentally formless and requires cultural forces and socialization in order to take one shape or another. Lots of gay and lesbian activists talk about how "it isn't a choice." This is most likely true, but I doubt pure biology (or worse, genetics!) alone can explain a phenomenon like homosexuality. This is one area where psychologists and sociologists are better equipped than neurologists.

Finally, I read Tripp's book on Abe Lincoln, and I found most of it speculative, a lot less "hard science" than I liked. It is most likely true that Lincoln did have a homosexual affair with Joshua Speed, but I find the evidence for the other relationships Tripp cites as flimsy.
